Born in Prymorsk (Zaporizhzhya region) on 31 January 1975. After leaving the military, resided in Stakhanov, Luhansk region. Since 1996, he took active part in the ‘cossack movement’. In 2007, Pavlov became the commander of ‘Kadiyivka Village’ Don cossacks’ organization, which was actively funded by the Union of Cossack Groups from Russia.
On 6 April 2014, took part in the seizure of Luhansk SSU Directorate as a member of the Army of the South-East’. In May 2014, he was injured in battle and taken to Rostov-on-Don. Following his recovery, he returned to Luhansk region. He created a group called ‘SMERSH LPR’ specialized on ‘catching’ pro-Ukrainian activists.
In November 2014, the group led by Leshiy became part of the ‘4th brigade of people’s militia’.
In early April 2015, in an interview with Anna-news TV channel, Pavlov said he had been injured in a battle with Ukrainian army near Donetske village, and then spent three weeks in Moscow undergoing treatment.
