The dispensary in Opytne destroyed owing to the attacks

Two years ago, on February 14, 2015 one-story brick building from 1938, the dispensary in the village of Opytne in Donetsk region, underwent considerable damage as a result of the shelling.

As the representatives of Lugansk regional human rights center "Alternative" Valery Novykov and Denys Denysenko have fund out in the course of monitoring the situation with the shelling of civilian objects, the building went up in flames as a result of direct shell hit in the physiotherapy room. The equipment, furniture and medical records were damaged.

In accordance with the conclusions of the commission that investigated the technical condition composed of health professionals, representatives of local councils, the building can’t be restored. At the moment, attendance of patients is carried out in another dispensary. The village council has also allocated space for the physiotherapy.

The two-storey building nearby is now being renovated. It is planned to combine clinic and a center providing primary health care there.

The publication was written in the frame of work of the Coalition "Justice for Peace in Donbass" on the project "The usage of methods and means of warfare prohibited by international law against civilian health facilities during an armed conflict in the east of Ukraine", carried out with the support of the International "Renaissance" Foundation.
