In August 2014, members of the Horlivka "Botsman's group" were stationed in the motel building, which was controlled by I. Bezler's right hand, a citizen of the Russian Federation and an officer of the GRU, Sergei Povalyaev, with the call sign "Botsman". In January 2015, the participants of the 3rd Brigade "Berkut" were stationed in the hotel building. In the basement of the motel, in one of the rooms and at the entrance to the building were holding hostages.
One of the hostages, who was supposed to take the bodies of the dead soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was held for about two days in one of the motel rooms. He was allowed to eat with the members of the NFP and was given the opportunity to use the telephone, but he could not leave the motel grounds without permission. During the detention the hostage was constantly threatened with execution.
In August 2014, two civilian hostages were held and tortured at the entrance to the motel. During the torture of the hostages, drunken members of the NFP were beaten them so hard, that they broke their gun.
In January 2015, members of the 3rd Brigade Berkut detained a former employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the motel building. During the detention, the hostage was severely injured and fired upon.
The motel is now closed.
